From a young age, Christian has had one clear ambition: “to drive big freight trains across Australia.” His passion for railways is undeniable, he has an impressive knowledge of trains and lights up when talking about anything rail-related. But like many young people on the edge of finishing school, he wasn’t sure of the exact steps to turn his dream into reality.

In Year 10 Rashaan wasn’t enjoying school. His mum wanted support to explore what other options he might have. By looking at his interests and what he was good at – with his parents’ support and an inclusive employment service – he explored different career options with work experience before starting a job that will lead to an apprenticeship.

Dean is a creative and motivated young man who dreams of becoming a filmmaker. When he finished Year 11 he wanted to find a job so he could have a secure income and housing. He signed up to the Brotherhood of St Laurence’s Inclusive Pathways to Employment (IPE) pilot provided by Workskil Australia, in North Adelaide.

The Geelong Region Local Learning and Employment Network (GRLLEN) joined the national Ticket to Work initiative in 2013, by establishing its own stakeholder network, originally called the Ticket to Work Geelong network, now known as the Geelong Inclusion Network (GIN), and the group hasn’t looked back.
